A servo motor positions the film with an encoder and stops within milliseconds. Bag length changes become a number on the touchscreen instead of a gear change, which cuts changeover time dramatically.
Because the sealing jaws are also servo-driven, the machine synchronizes film pull and sealing perfectly at high speed. That is how a modern VFFS machine reaches 60–80 bags per minute without losing seal quality.
