Automatic cartoning machines typically have three inlets: the instruction sheet inlet, the product inlet, and the machine-pack carton inlet. From carton feeding to final packaging, the process can be roughly divided into four stages: A suction cup picks up a carton from the carton inlet, which then descends to the main cartoning line. The carton is then opened, secured by guide rails. A push plate opens the carton, and simultaneously, a latch rises from below, locking the sides of the carton, opening it at a right angle and moving it forward to the loading area. The carton is loaded, with the product and instruction sheet placed in the carton. Finally, the lid is closed, with the carton's tabs bent. The push plate then pushes the lid, pushing the tabs into the carton and securing the latch.
